After over a decade of running a successful wedding business in the Scottish Borders, in 2021 Lindsey Hunter moved to the beautiful and beguiling town of Berwick Upon Tweed. It is from there she found new beginnings.

In her own words she describes her path from a feisty little girl to a compulsive fashionista, and, how all of that became Hopetown & Hunter.

I am the eldest of three, all girls, and the shortest at 6ft! (we must have eaten our greens!). I was always encouraged and supported, especially in music and self expression. Creativity and the need to use my hands came in the form of endless craft sessions on the kitchen table sewing, gluing, sticking, cutting and making quilts embroidery and knitting. The results were primitive but I recall I was at my happiest.

My parents were always in antique shops and were avid collectors. I inherited this obsession and love nothing more than an auction, flea-market, charity and junk shop. I love the process of looking at textures and colours and seeing how they could work together.

My Mum worked for a time in a high end boutique she was very clever with her own wardrobe and made fabulous outfits, for me too. Fashion became a love, and still is. It fascinates me, I find it all intoxicating. Nowadays I love observing young people especially my own children, what they wear is so eclectic and random.

I just adore beads and the first necklace I ever made was from a belt found in an antique shop it has a massive circular Chinese jadeite pendant. Here I found my creative home. I inject a lot of humour into my work, surrounding myself with quirky entertaining projects. I am a massive fan of The Magic Roundabout, The Good Life and Tommy Cooper and my home is filled with mischievous curios. Of course ultimately, my pieces become an extension of personality and they have I think, soul.

I would love to design for Trinny Woodall, I really admire her honesty flair and tenacity and her bags of style. Another on my list is Dame Joanna Lumley, she is a national treasure so beautiful and witty. Along with actress Helena Bonham Carter and interiors guru Kit Kemp they would be my dream necklace team!
