Antique Skirt Lifter Necklace

I love learning about the things that I collect and this lovely pair of hands which dates from the Edwardian period, caught my eye.  It turns out that this was a practical little item to clip your skirts up out of the mud. 

I'm not sure how much use you would get out of it these days, so it is now a delightful pendant on a necklace of vintage metal ribbed beads.  Rather a lovely talking point. 

The clip itself is in excellent working order.
