Vintage Beaded Flower Necklace

Vintage textiles and beadwork are heavenly to me, and, giving them a new lease of life so that they can be worn is satisfying.

The centerpiece to this double stranded necklace is a large beadwork flower in dark aubergine and soft purple colours with just a hint of minty green which I have used as the inspiration for the double-stranded necklace. The beads are a mixture of vintage and green variscite.

The beaded flower itself is French and was originally part of an elaborate, handcrafted wreath found in cemetries in the late 1800s to early 1900s known as 'immortelles'.  A kind of of everlasting memorial for graves.
