Orange Blue and Gold Beaded Beetle Necklace

One of my most favourite pastimes is beading. It’s a combination of seeing piles of colourful beads and the actual slow and precise nature of sewing the beads together to produce different patterns and shapes. It’s a true therapy when time just slows right down.

I found this beetle, with it’s tiny legs and delicate design, in a shop in Northumberland but couldn’t find the right beads to accompany it. I decided to weave my own designs over preloved beads to create a vivid, one-off design.

It’s fair to say that it took hours to complete but I’m happy with the result and hope that it crawls off to a happy home.
